South Street Antiques visited by BBCs Antiques Road Trip

A BRIDPORT antique store is set to return to the small screen for the fourth time after being visited by a BBC film crew.

South Street Antiques is set to appear on the BBC’s Antiques Road Trip again.

That visit saw one of the show’s newest presenters, antique dealer Arita Marriot, scouring the South Street store for hidden gems earlier this month.

The store will actually be seen on today’s schedule – but that’s from a separate tour filmed last year.

Mother-son duo Frances and Bill Moseley have run the antique shop together for 10 years.

Ms Moseley said: “We were surprised when they rang, it’s good that they appreciate the shop and like to come here and see what we have to offer.

“Arita was very sweet and very personable and the film crew were great and followed the rules of social distancing. Many of them had never been to the Jurassic Coast, so they were very curious to see and learn more.

“This is the fourth time they have visited the store and when they left at the end they said we would be looking forward to seeing you again.”

She added: “We love their arrival. It’s a little scary because your shop is going to be on TV and everything has to be in perfect condition, but overall it’s a really enjoyable experience.”

The team filmed for about three hours as Arita scoured the store for items to turn a profit on.

Arita chose an 18th century ‘mocha jug’ to sell for the show, along with a number of items for herself.

The show, which airs on BBC One, follows antiques experts as they set off on a road trip across the UK in search of treasure and compete for the most money at auctions.

This will be the fourth time South Street Antiques will appear on Antiques Road Trip with the store visited in 2015 and 2017 – before being visited by auctioneer and dealer Raj Bisram in October 2020.

The episode featuring Raj’s visit to South Street antiques will air this afternoon – Thursday, May 27 – at 4:30 p.m. on BBC One. It will then be available on BBC iPlayer after the broadcast.

There is no date set for the episode starring Arita Marriot yet.
